The Atlantis Research Labs and AVRO Development Program 

In collaboration with Atlantis Research Labs, Form-Tech, AVRO Aerospace and the University of Calgary, this flagship initiative develops cutting-edge technologies to advance Canada's aerospace leadership. 

The Atlantis Research Labs Development Program not only advances Canada’s technical capabilities but also fosters academic partnerships, regional growth, and workforce development. 

It is designed to position Canada as a self-reliant spacefaring nation, driving economic opportunities and inspiring future generations of innovators. 

Aligned with Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy, the program offers primes multipliers across the following categories:

  • R&D with Canadian Post-Secondary Institutions & SMEs

  • Clean Technology

  • Export Development

  • Regional Economic Development (Western Canada)

  • Skills Development & Training

  • SME Participation

Key Project Pledge

Proven Success with the MK1 Rocket 

Prior to CSF, Atlantis Research Labs and AVRO successfully delivered the MK1 under the Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) program demonstrating significant achievements in Canadian aerospace innovation. 
 

  • The MK1 Rocket, a single-stage hybrid propulsion vehicle, successfully launched to 30,000 feet, validating its design, performance, and reliability. 
     

  • It showcased groundbreaking technologies, including 3D-printed fuel grains and advanced hybrid propulsion systems, setting the stage for scalable and cost-effective solutions in atmospheric and space missions. 

 

An Atlantis Research Labs and AVRO Development Program.

MK2 Rocket 

Product: Suborbital vehicle.

 

Overview: MK2 will reach 150 km with a 50 kg payload, providing four minutes of microgravity for research and technology testing.

Building on the success of the MK1 Rocket, the MK2 will incorporate hybrid propulsion and advanced 3D-printed fuel grain technology. It will offer optional payload recovery and a low-emission propulsion system, providing a more sustainable and efficient solution for suborbital research.

MK3 Rocket

Product: Two-stage orbital vehicle. 

Overview: MK3 will be designed for sovereign 500 kg satellite deployment and scientific missions to 550km SSO. Features reusable components and advanced liquid engines for cleaner launches. 

Key Benefits: Independent access to space, reduced costs, environmental sustainability.

RamForce Engine 

Product: High-efficiency propulsion system. 

Overview: Generates static thrust with no moving parts, suitable for rockets, drones, and space planes.

Key Benefits: Reduced environmental impact, improved efficiency and scalable for multiple applications.

MKX Long-Range UAV

Product: Supersonic UAV powered by the RamForce Engine.

Overview: Designed for suborbital transport and high-altitude research, the MKX will feature autonomous operation, advanced navigation systems, and a reusable airframe. Its high-speed capabilities and sustainable propulsion make it ideal for next-generation aerospace applications. As a stepping stone to future spaceplane development, MKX paves the way for rapid, reusable access to suborbital and orbital environments.

Key Benefits: Sustainable, multi-mission, and reusable—enabling cost-effective access to high-altitude and suborbital environments while advancing future spaceplane capabilities.
